Holding Space for Shame

This is a highly relational and dynamic learning environment for experienced healers, therapists and somatic workers.

about me

Shame is the most common thing that gets in the way of the things most humans crave:

  • Self trust

  • Vitality

  • Emotional dexterity

  • Relational capacity

And at a time in the world where these things, in particular relational capacity are required it takes us as practitioners to become more skilful at working with shame.

Shame is often the last place humans wish to venture into. It can keep people stuck in therapy for years or stuck in life. It is painful, but it doesn’t have to be if we approach this with practice.

Meet your guide - Joanna Miller

SOMATIC TEACHER, MENTOR, COACH, TRAINEE ELDER AND ENGAGED CITIZEN

She has helped thousands of people get a different, more loving, relationship with themselves through her talks, training, mentoring and working one to one with folk.

Her methods are based primarily somatic, working with the body at the root cause of shame that has helped folk feel more alive, live authentically and she encourages fun and authenticity through her teachings.

She has worked in the field for more than 10 years, training extensively and directly with some of the leaders in the field including Peter Levine, Dr Abi Blakeslee, Dr Aline La Pierre and more.

Midway through that journey she realised what was not spoken about or trained in depth was the one thing that was holding people back - and that was shame.

For the last two years she has devoted most of her time in research and working directly with this as she believes this is not only a key to our own individual healing but sees how it contributes to shaping better, more just systems around us.

She believes brave spaces help us heal and not safe spaces. She is also wise enough to not claim her spaces are safe. That is for you to decide - and as a start point please check out this inclusivity statement to help you determine that before signing up to work with her.
