ANGRY WOMAN

Maybe you have seen the press shaming angry women? Maybe you have always been confused or an overthinker, or feel shame around your own anger.

Well, now is the time to join forces with other angry women. Come and gather round the fire, not the polished version of you, but the one who is tired of holding it all together, biting your tongue, and keeping the peace at your own expense.

Get ready for a collective, embodied, alivening - FUCK THIS SHIT.

This is a five-week space for women, femmes and nonbinary folk who are done pretending they are not angry.

Not the explosive version you have been warned about, but the embodied, deeper kind that lives in your chest, your jaw, your gut, and shows up as tension, resentment, or a constant undercurrent of “something is not right.” 

 

It is for the women who have been called too much, too emotional, too difficult, and for the ones who learned to shrink, soften, or stay silent so they did not have to hear it again.

 

Inside this container, you will not be asked to fix your anger or push it away. Instead, you will be supported to turn towards it, gently and honestly, in the company of other women who are doing the same. There is something that shifts when anger is no longer something you carry alone, but something that can be witnessed, named, and understood in a shared space.

 

Together, we begin to get curious about what anger is actually trying to say. Because it is not random, and it is not a flaw. More often than not, it is the part of you that knows a boundary has been crossed, that something has not felt right for a long time, or that you have been asked to tolerate more than you should have had to.

 

And you have to ask….who exactly benefits from calling you an angry woman? The same people crossing boundaries? The same systems that are collapsing and desperately trying to do anything they can to shame those with the power and potential to make the necessary changes in their worlds and the world at large for the better.

In this space, work with anger in the body, not just in the mind. You will learn how to recognise it as it arises, how to stay with it without shutting down or getting overwhelmed, and how to move it in ways that bring clarity rather than chaos. And from there, something starts to come back online. Because it is possible to feel anger without it turning against you or being the thing that keeps you up at night or misdirecting in ways that leave you feeling shame. It is possible to stay connected to yourself while you feel it, and to let it sharpen your clarity, your boundaries, and your sense of what you will and will not accept.

What becomes possible here: 
During this five-week immersion, we will do the urgent and life-affirming work together. A community, embodied and practical journey, with x4 live calls, and the best tried and tested practices to help you feel more powerful than ever.

How we will journey together

4 LIVE & RECORDED, 90-MINUTE WEEKLY SESSIONS: This is where teaching, sharing, laughing (embodying anger isn't just the portal to change, it is the portal to aliveness too), and movement.

WEEKLY DROPS OF MEDICINE: Prompts and practices (the tried and tested ones), to help you explore your inner world and be at peace being an 'angry woman'. There is a lot to be angry about, and that is more than ok!

​

A DEDICATED POP-UP COMMUNITY SPACE: A space to share where all of you is welcomed.

​

BONUS DOWN REGULATING RESOURCES: Every lioness needs a space to rest and restore, so there will be some extra goodies to help find equilibrium in your nervous system and soul without bypassing.

​

WEEK 1: NERVOUS SYSTEM EDUCATION THAT DOESN’T GASLIGHT YOU INTO BEING CALM: Most of the nervous system education is taught in a Eurocentric way that claims calm is the goal. I call bull. This has become the latest and newest way to trick women into being more palatable. There will be educational balm, sharing and movement. 

​

WEEK 2: UNSHAMING ANGER: Shame and anger are the biggest bind I see within those I work with. It starts young, from what we see role modelled badly as little ones, and it is then reinforced. More psychoeducation around how shame works to bind with anger, more community shares, more movement and probably some laughter and fun along the way. 

​

→ WEEK 3: INTEGRATION WEEK: Big work needs space. This is a time to reflect, restore and recharge with practices and prompts for integration. 

​

WEEK 4: GROUP MEDICINE CIRCLE: Most of us have rarely seen other women EMBODY their anger, but I have day in and day out for the last decade, and let me tell you it is an alchemy, it is phenomenal, and an utter joy to witness that will forever change you. This week, there will be an opportunity for one or maybe two people to work with Jo directly, held by the group.

WEEK 5: LIONESSES IN THE WILD: We will bring it all together with tips, practices and ceremony to help you be an angry woman out in the wild. There will be sharing and movement. *Movement can be done at your own pace but will be old school rave and other banging tunes at the end of class. The last 5-10 minutes where this happens will be the only part not recorded.

Why this, why now?

Old systems are collapsing. Women are being shamed for speaking up or holding a mirror up to family systems that expect unpaid emotional labour. Women are being pitted against each other.

​

You, my dear, are part of the solution. Your anger is part of the solution; being palatable has likely kept you up at night, made you ill or got to a point where you feel you will boil over. This is the time to break cycles and learn to embody anger.

​

Meet your guide - Joanna Miller

SOMATIC TEACHER, MENTOR, COACH, TRAINEE ELDER AND ENGAGED CITIZEN

She has helped thousands of people get a different, more loving, relationship with themselves through her talks, training, mentoring and working one to one with folk.

​

Her methods are based primarily somatic, working with the body at the root cause of shame that has helped folk feel more alive, live authentically and she encourages fun and authenticity through her teachings.

​

She has worked in the field for more than 10 years, training extensively and directly with some of the leaders in the field including Peter Levine, Dr Abi Blakeslee, Dr Aline La Pierre and more.

​

Midway through that journey she realised what was not spoken about or trained in depth was the one thing that was holding people back - and that was shame.

​

For the last two years she has devoted most of her time in research and working directly with this as she believes this is not only a key to our own individual healing but sees how it contributes to shaping better, more just systems around us. 

​

This course is offered as embodied exploration and psychoeducation and is not a suitable replacement for therapy.

Do I need to attend all calls live?

No. Calls will be recorded - come and go as you please.

What happens in between calls?

You will have some light optional journal prompts and embodied exercises. The embodied exercises are tools for life.

Is this like a rage room?

Somebody did ask me this already. No rage rooms are about expression. This is about integration and therefore moves the needle on embodying anger, which in turn helps restore self-trust, vitality, and a lot more.

I am not an activist - am I welcome?

Absolutely. Every woman, femme, and non-binary person embodying her power right now is necessary work, whatever your intention.

Is this trauma-informed?

Absolutely. I am highly trauma-trained, and you can check out my credentials here.

What does Trainee Elder mean?

I have been walking this path for over ten years, and put simply it is spirituality without the bullsit and a loving, fun, fierce, and compassionate presence.
